Job Description:
SUMMARY
Operates surface mount equipment and assembles electronic components, subassemblies, or systems by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place. Performs through-hole assembly and related hand-soldering operations.
  • Mounts assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets, on multilayer chassis panel.
  • Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • May perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color coding parts and assemblies.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Performs on-line go-no-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or received verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Must be able to able to perform soldering operations per IPC-JSTD-001 rework/repair per the IPC 7711/7721

Qualifications:
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Two year certificate from technical school and 1 year directly related experience; or minimum of 3 years' directly related experience. Experience working with hand tools, SMT and through-hole assembly. Skilled in advanced manual soldering of leads, connectors and magnetic devices to multilayer printed wiring boards. Experience with MIL-Spec 2000 soldering preferred.
