TEMPORARY (RPS) EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
District Office Temporary (RPS) Employment Opportunity Academic Writer for ST4STEM Grant Project

Location: District Office/14th Street
Hours: 15 hours per week: Flexible; Monday – Friday; September 15, 2013 - June 30, 2014 (pending funding)
Hourly Rate: $20.33 (no benefits)

Background: The Student and Teacher Technology Transformation Teams (ST4) Project is funded by a National Science Foundation Grant and administered by the Maricopa Community Colleges District Office. The ST4STEM Project focuses on increasing the ability of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teachers and their students to collaboratively learn and apply STEM skills using design-based learning and technology tools. Grant content is delivered through an online course that trains teachers on design and project-based teaching and learning, instructional technology, and more.
Job Summary: Writer is responsible for writing and publishing a variety of articles that disseminate grant products and model, and contributes to the body of work in instructional technology and design-based teaching and learning; works closely with Principal Investigator (PI) and Project Coordinator (PC) on other writing projects as assigned.
Position Duties:
 Researches local/national publications and other media and outlets for appropriate article and product placement
 Writes for publication in peer-reviewed journals and other relevant media
 Collaborates with PI and PC on writing for publication
 Collaborates with PI and PC on creation of project "how-to" manual
 Participates in the preparation of final report to the National Science Foundation
 Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Abilities Experienced academic writer with proven record of published works.
