Department: Library Hours: Mon – Fri Dates of Employment: Through May 09, 2014 Salary Range: $2,454.21- $2,864.46 Biweekly (Benefits Included)
Job Summary: Please take time to view Phoenix College’s Learning College Philosophy at http://www.phoenixcollege.edu-learning-college Working within a learning college environment, this position will assist in managing and acquiring print, electronic and streaming materials; manage and track budgets. Additional responsibilities include assisting with reference services, teaching information literacy sessions, and assisting with special projects as needed while working collaboratively with a diverse urban college community. Candidates will be expected to support and promote the Learning College philosophy of putting learning first. Essential Functions: 45% -Assists with reference services. 25% -Assists in selecting and acquiring library material in a variety of formats. 15% -Provides information literacy instruction to a diverse population. 10% -Assists with special projects as needed. 05% -Assists with tracking and managing budgets. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library or Information Science (or its equivalent) from a graduate professional program accredited by the American Library Association.
EDU250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community Colleges or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire.
Desired Qualifications:
Recent professional academic reference experience
Demonstrate ability in designing information literacy instruction.
Experience selecting and acquiring library materials in a variety of formats.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated organizational ability and problem solving skills.
Experience working collaboratively with faculty and staff in meeting the teaching and learning needs of a college community.
Experience working with diverse population.
Knowledge of the philosophy and principles of a Learning College.
Special Working Conditions: May be required to work evenings and weekends; some off-site local travel may be required; local and statewide travel may be required; possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver’s License is required; must meet district minimum standards regarding
