SECRETARY- MEDICAL OFFICE

Great position in a long standing successful practice for someone with from two to four years medical, chiropractic, podiatry, dental or veterinary office experience. This is an opportunity to perform (learn or improve skills) in a little bit of everything related to administration in a medical office - from scheduling, medical billing to paying bills. This is a fee for service office – so there is very little insurance billing. We track office visits in Medisoft- medical billing program (can provide basic skills on this). Can you compose and prepare a literate and grammatically correct business letter? Is spell check your friend? Can you think on your feet? Salary and subsequent increases are related to - mastering a little Quickbooks, (the deposit and credit card payments section as well as writing checks), a little Powerpoint, a little more Excel, typing in Word and emails AND a ton of multitasking!
Can you understand the instructions on machines like fax/scanner/copiers, telephone systems, mobile phones and can you make them work beyond just their basic functions? In your cover letter tell us which of these you are not that competent with but would like to learn. You get points (and $'s) for medical office experience. I could care less if you have a degree from a medical institute. There is no blood here unless we count papercuts! If you can use excellent grammar and communicate well, can rapidly acquire or already have some knowledge of healthcare office activities - handling basic releases and HIPPA you will do fine.
Have you had some longevity at your previous jobs? Are you still speaking to your bosses? Do you have great references? This job involves financial information and sensitive client personal information - can you pass a very thorough background check? Everyone has a smudge or two, but tell us beforehand! I hope you can type faster than me and be capable of very specific responses to telephone calls.
