POSITION OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to function as a member of the



Maricopa County Head Start Zero – Five teaching and family support team to promote




active learning in the infant-toddler classroom by planning and implementing developmentally


appropriate individualized experiences and by creating a safe and nurturing environment


in which zero through three year old children can enhance physical development,


language and literacy skills, cognitive development social relationships and develop age-appropriate social


and self helps skills. This includes planning and participating in parent education, parent involvement and


family support activities.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent and possess a Child Development



Associate (CDA) credential, or equivalent, with specific training and/or coursework in infant and toddler care




and have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience working with infant/toddlers in a group setting; - OR


– Associate Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or Childhood Development or equivalent degree consisting


of 18 credit hours of ECE coursework including specific training and/or coursework in infant and toddler


care at the Associate level and one year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or public pre-k setting; -


OR – Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Childhood Development or equivalent degree consisting


of 18 credit hours of ECE coursework including specific training and/or coursework in infant and toddler


care at the Bachelor level and one year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or public pre -k setting.


Completion of supervised student teaching in an early childhood setting is counted towards this work experience.

Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is strongly desired and may be required for




some positions. Preferred: Applicant must meet one of the qualifications identified: Associate's degree in



Early Childhood Education or Childhood Development or equivalent degree consisting of 18 credit hours of ECE




coursework at the Associate level and one (1) year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or public prek

and must have received the following vaccinations: (MMR) Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Tetanus if not current,


to assure no significant risk exists to the health or safety of others. Certification in CPR, First Aid, and

Estrella Mountain Community College is hiring a full-time Spanish faculty to work under a learning college philosophy

diverse population of students. Employs innovative teaching methods and alternative delivery methods in instruction. Demonstrates

commitment to student academic success. Contributes to college wide teams engaged in improving teaching and learning. Collaborates

with faculty colleagues and support staff to market and promote Spanish courses. Assists with the development of the division and the

discipline.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


60% - Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting: develops written syllabi/course outlines

and course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams;

develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and

developments in the field and to promote the scholarship

40% - Maintains office hours to assist and advise students; engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District wide and

campus committees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


1. A Master's degree in the teaching field, or a Master's in any teaching field with 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours in the

teaching field, or Master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field

2. EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College -- or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Two (2) or more years' teaching experience at the community college and/or university level

2. Experience teaching a diverse group of students including underrepresented and multicultural populations

3. Experience using a variety of teaching methods, including active learning, collaborative learning and the use of instructional technology

4. Experience creating and teaching online and hybrid courses

5. Experience teaching Spanish designed for professional and workplace needs

6. Experience living, traveling or working in communities where Spanish is the primary language

7. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in Spanish

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


80% - Works in the area of KJZZ Radio Station or its bureaus throught-out the United States or international locations; Reports news and

issues of interest in the Southwest, employing the highest journalist standards for fairness, balance, accuracy, range of perspective and

integrity; Writes, mixes and file spots in-depth news stories across multiple media platforms, both on and off deadline, using studio, field,

transmission and standard office equipment; Edits sound and video and files transfer technology.

10% - Provides context to the news department to foster understanding of background information necessary to advance news stories in the

region.

10% - Participates in fundraising activities and performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


1 - Two (2) or more years' experience as a reporter or editor for a newspaper, magazine, website or broadcast station

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


Must be able to work irregular hours; ability to carry remote broadcast equipment required; travel, including international is required. Because

the job will be supervised remotely, and because of the potentially volatile nature and international locations of news material, there may be

significant perils associated with this work that goes beyond those typically encountered in domestic general assignment reporting.

Accordingly, this class specification may require the physical ability to move quickly out of harm's way, to wear heavy protective clothing and/or

special breathing apparatus and to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in hazardous situations.
